Service Description

Got a camera but still aren’t quite sure how to use it? Photography Foundations is a hands-on beginner workshop designed to help you understand your camera, get comfortable with the settings, and start taking more intentional photos. This 3-hour workshop begins inside Create & Capture Studio, where we’ll break down photography in an easy-to-understand way. You’ll learn about your camera controls, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, the exposure triangle, focus points, basic composition, natural light, and how to begin moving beyond Auto Mode. Then it’s time to put what you learned into practice! We’ll travel approximately 1–2 minutes to a nearby park for guided outdoor shooting. You’ll practice adjusting your settings in real time, finding and using natural light, improving composition, choosing better backgrounds and angles, focusing on your subject, and seeing how small changes can completely transform a photograph. Photography Foundations Booking Policy Registration & Payment Full payment of $125 is required to reserve your space. Class size is limited, and registration is confirmed only after payment is received. Cancellations & Transfers Due to the limited number of seats, registration fees are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, you may request to transfer your registration to another scheduled Photography Foundations class, provided notice is given at least 48 hours before class. Transfers are subject to availability. Late Arrival Please arrive on time. Because the class begins with important camera instruction before moving into the hands-on portion, late arrivals may miss information that cannot be repeated individually. What to Bring Participants should bring a digital camera, DSLR, or mirrorless camera, along with a charged battery, lens, and memory card. Camera features vary by model, so some settings demonstrated during class may not be available on every camera. If you do not own a DSLR or mirrorless camera, please contact Create & Capture Studio before registering to discuss whether your current camera is appropriate or whether limited loaner equipment may be available. Equipment Responsibility Participants are responsible for the care and security of their own cameras, lenses, accessories, and personal belongings during the workshop. Create & Capture Studio is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal equipment. Outdoor Practice & Transportation This workshop begins at Create & Capture Studio and continues with guided outdoor photography practice at a nearby park approximately 1–2 minutes away. Participants are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the outdoor practice location. Weather The outdoor portion of the workshop is weather permitting. Cloudy or overcast conditions will generally not cancel outdoor practice. In the event of rain, severe weather, or unsafe outdoor conditions, the hands-on portion may be modified, moved to another suitable location, or conducted using available natural light at the studio. If Create & Capture Studio must cancel or reschedule the entire class, registered participants will be offered a transfer to another available class date or another appropriate resolution. Participation This is a beginner-friendly, hands-on educational workshop. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and practice throughout the class.
